- Please beware of the IRS phishing scam. Even if it looks official,
the IRS will NEVER contact you by email. The scammers have copied
the IRS logo so it does look real. If you receive an email from
the IRS that indicates you have a refund coming or owe money, delete
it and never respond. Call us at 797-3251 if you have any questions
regarding legitimacy of any IRS correspondence.

- So how does the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 affect you? The IRS provides
some details but mostly 2008 individual tax filings are not affected.
Returns filed in 2010 for tax year 2009 will be. More information
will follow.

- Filed your 1040 already? The
IRS provides refund information online to help you track the status
of your refund. Go to Where's My Refund? at www.irs.gov or
click here and
we'll take you there. You may also call the IRS's refund hotline
at 1-800-829-1954 or the automated service at 1-800-829-4477. You
will need your Social Security number, filing status of the taxpayer
and the exact amount of the refund in whole dollars.

- Mason Warner & Company, PC announces the retirement of Terri
Cash, CPA from public accounting. Terri will be joining the private
sector where she will be able to spend more time with her family.
MWC's branch office is closing as well. Our Post accounting clients
will continue to receive the same care from our Lubbock staff. We
wish Terri well as she moves into the next stage of her life.

- Mason Warner & Company, PC is currently seeking a full-time
experienced, degreed tax professional. CPA designation is preferred.
Familiarity with Lacerte, Excel, Word and Creative Solutions Accounting
is a plus. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience
of applicant.
Additionally,
we are currently seeking to fill a flex-time position. Applicants
should have previous experience preparing either 1120, 1120S, 1065
and 1041's, Medicaid cost reports, or both. Applicant would need
to be available 35-40 hours per week from February 1st through April
15th with a flexible schedule the remainder of the year. Familiarity
with Lacerte, Excel, Word and Creative Solutions Accounting is a
plus. Hourly compensation is negotiable based experience level.
