- Does diabetes affect your life or the life of someone you love?
The Lubbock chapter of the American Diabetes Association is sponsoring
a walk on September 11 at McKenzie Park to raise money to fund finding
a cure for diabetes. Our Firm's managing partner, Gary Lane, is
the focus of their fundraising walk this year. To see Gary's story,

- Welcome to our new employees! Brett Coons joined us from a Dallas
Firm in December. Stetson Wellborn is a recent college graduate
and Kelsey Gilliam is an accounting major. We look forward to working
with them and watching them grow as accounting professionals.

- FYI for Quickbooks users - if you are interested in upgrading
your workstation to Windows 7, only QuickBooks 2009 and 2010 are
compatible. We are a QuickBook ProAdvisor supplier and can help
if you need to upgrade to a newer version.

- The IRS has announced that it is temporarily changing the anticipated
processing time of Form 1040X. The response from ARRA 2009 has been
overwhelming creating a processing backlog.

- Filed your 1040 already? The
IRS provides refund information online to help you track the status
of your refund. Go to Where's My Refund? at www.irs.gov or
click here and
we'll take you there. You may also call the IRS's refund hotline
at 1-800-829-1954 or the automated service at 1-800-829-4477. You
will need your Social Security number, filing status of the taxpayer
and the exact amount of the refund in whole dollars.

- Please beware of the IRS phishing scam. Even if it looks official,
the IRS will NEVER contact you by email. Scammers have copied the
IRS logo so it does look real. If you receive an email from the
IRS indicating you have a refund coming or owe money, delete it
and never respond. Call us at 797-3251 if you have any questions
regarding legitimacy of any IRS correspondence. Also, your bank
and credit card company should never email you to ask for login
or password information. As always, take extreme caution with your
personal information, particularly your social security number.

Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 affect you? Contact your
CPA or preparer at MWC for an appointment if you have questions
concerning how the law applies to you. Later in the year you may
want to schedule an appointment for a tax projection.
