Shareholders

Mark W. Dickson, CPA

Mark, a Lubbock native, graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University in May of 1979. Prior to his graduation he joined the firm as a part time employee in January of 1979 and became a full time employee upon his graduation in May. He attained his certification in November of 1981 and became a shareholder on November 6th, 1991. In his experience with Mason Warner & Company PC he has become knowledgeable in the areas of Oil & Gas taxation, Farming and Ranching, and Small Business and Closely held Corporations. Mark works with all types of entities including both "C" and "S" corporations, all forms of partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, Trusts and Estate, as well as, Not for Profit entities. Mark is also certified to prepare Cost Reports and Fiscal Accountability Reports required of Facilities that care for the Elderly and the Mentally Handicapped in the State of Texas.

Greg Freeman, CPA

Greg grew up in Crosbyton, TX. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University in May of 1976. Prior to joining Mason Warner & Company, P.C., in November 1981, he worked for another local CPA firm. He attained certification in November 1981 and became a shareholder on November 6, 1991. Through his tenure with both firms, Greg has become knowledgeable in the areas of Small Business and Closely held Corporations, Retirement Plans, Farming and Ranching, and Employee Benefit Plans. Greg works with all types of entities including both "C" and "S" corporations, all forms of partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, Not for Profit entities, as well as, Individuals.

Barbara Gilliam, CPA 

Barbara joined Mason Warner & Company in January 1998. She graduated from Texas Tech University in December 1985 and holds degrees in both Accounting and Management Information Systems. Barbara became a MWC shareholder in January of 2004. Prior to moving back to Lubbock to join Mason Warner, Barbara worked as a manager in the Accounting and Consulting Services Department of a large local CPA firm in Dallas, Texas. Barbara practices primarily in the areas of individual, partnership and corporate taxation and consulting. She provides services to a wide range of businesses, including physicians and other health care providers, professionals and leads our firm in the area of Retirement Benefit administration and Compliance.

Gary L. Lane, CPA

Gary grew up in Lubbock. He graduated from Texas Tech in August 1978, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He began his accounting career in September 1978, when he joined Mason Warner & Company. Gary became a shareholder in the firm in 1991, and currently serves as president and managing shareholder. Gary specializes in many areas of taxation including farm and ranch, entity planning, small business, closely held corporations, S and C corporations, individuals, partnerships, limited liability companies, non-profits, estates and trusts.

Greg Moore, CPA

Greg is a native West Texan, having grown up in Brownfield. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1976 with a BBA in Accounting. He joined Mason Warner & Company in September 1977, and became a shareholder in the Firm in 1991. Greg practices primarily in the areas of individual, partnership and corporate taxation and consulting. He provides services to a wide range of businesses, including physicians and other health care providers, professionals, banks, retail and wholesale trades, dealerships, manufacturing concerns, real estate management, and retirement plans and trusts. He also oversees the Firm's financial statement reporting practice and has extensive experience in this area.

J. Tait Crow, CPA

Tait grew up in Sunray, Texas. He graduated from West Texas A&M University, where he was a three year letterman in football. Tait graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in August of 1999. Tait began his accounting career in October 1999 and joined Mason Warner & Company PC on November 10, 2003. He attained his certification in December of 2005. Tait specializes in the areas of Farm and Ranch as well as the Cutting Horse Industry. He has extensive experience in Individual Tax, Small Business, Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, S & C Corporations and Nonprofit Organizations.  Tait became a shareholder on January 1, 2012.

Staff Accountants

Donna L. Majors, CPA

Donna grew up in Silverton, Texas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University in December, 1982 and received her certification in 1984. Donna has over 25 years of accounting experience in both industry and public accounting. She joined Mason Warner & Company in July, 2008. Donna is knowledgeable in many areas of taxation including farm and ranch, real estate, oil and gas, medical, manufacturing, and retail and wholesale trades. In addition to individuals, she has experience with limited liability companies, all types of partnerships, S and C corporations,trusts, estates, retirement plans, and non-profit entities.

Jeremy L. Stapp, CPA

Jeremy grew up in Lockney, Texas. He graduated from West Texas A&M University with a Masters in Professional Accounting in May of 2008. He began his career in 2006 and joined Mason Warner & Company on June 30, 2008. He attained his certification in August of 2010. Jeremy has experience in S and C Corporations, Partnerships, Small Businesses, Individuals, and Limited Liability Companies. He is also certified to prepare Medicaid Cost Reports in the state of Texas.

Allison Bailey

Allison is a Lubbock native. She graduated from Texas Tech University in August of 2010 and joined MWC in September 2010. She will be working with a variety of clients in tax compliance with an emphasis in Benefit Plan administration and compliance.

Brett Coons

Brett grew up in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting. Brett began his accounting career in 2007 and joined Mason Warner & Company in 2009. Brett is experienced in Individual Tax, Partnerships, S & C Corporations, Limited Liability Companies, Employee Benefit Plans, and Nonprofit Organizations. Brett is also proficient in working with QuickBooks.

Will D. Sanders

Will grew up in Dimmitt, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance. Will began his accounting career in 2005 and joined Mason Warner in 2007.
Will is experienced in Individual Tax, Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, S & C Corporations and Nonprofit Organizations. Will is also certified to prepare Medicaid Cost Reports in the state of Texas.

Consultants

Barry K. Malone, CLU, CFP, ChFC

Barry Malone is native of Lubbock and attended Texas Tech University. He began his professional life in the financial services industry in July of 1982. In 1992 after serving in various insurance industry positions Barry joined his father Barry Malone, Jr. in his Lubbock Agency until his father's death in 2004. In 2009 Barry became associated as a consultant with Mason Warner & Co. PC. Barry is a Charted Life Underwriter (CLU), and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and is also a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). He has successfully completed the FINRA sponsored Series 6,7.63,65 and 26 examinations.

Our History

Mason Warner & Company was founded in 1962 when Jimmie Mason left a local accounting firm and started his own accounting practice. In 1963 he moved to offices at 1708 15th street. The firm started by Jimmie continued to expand at this location. In 1964, J. Reid Warner joined our firm as a staff member. Reid became a partner in 1968. Jimmie Mason retired in 2000 and Reid Warner retired in January of 2007.

MWC continued to grow and expand from primarily tax preparation to a full range of accounting services. In 1973 our firm outgrew its location on 15th street and moved to the newly constructed Tower of the Plains Building at 50th and University. This was to be the location of our firm for the next eighteen years. We occupied a small portion of the fourth floor when we first moved to the PNB building. Within a few years the firm had grown to the point where we occupied the entire fourth floor.

During the period of time our firm spent in the Tower of the Plains there were many events that increased the expertise and stability of our firm.

From 1978 through 1981 our firm employed five new staff accountants, Mark Dickson, Greg Freeman, Pat Harris, Gary Lane, and Greg Moore. Pat Harris retired in May of 2004. The other four accountants remain with MWC as Shareholders. Barbara Gilliam was promoted to the position of shareholder on January 1, 2004 and Tait Crow was added as a shareholder on January 1, 2012. Together they represent the third generation of ownership that will be leading MWC into the future.
